Modern methods and tools of holistic and AI-based microstructure analysis

Sunday, 03 September 2023

Time: 15:30 - 18:00
Place: Seminargebäude
Moderators: Martin Müller, Saarland University and Dr.-Ing. Dominik Britz, Material Engineering Center Saarland (MECS)

The characterization and quantification of modern materials, where the acceptable scatter widths are becoming narrower and narrower, as well as the targeted material development sometimes require high-resolution analysis methods or explicitly the combination of complementary characterization methods. Based on the contents of the tutorial " Introduction to the methods and tools of microstructural analysis", the focus of the tutorial is on correlative microscopy approaches for cross-scale microstructural analysis. After an overview of existing segmentation methods, the second focus is on the possibilities of microstructure evaluation using machine learning methods. The tutorial is rounded off with best practice examples.
